Courage's Story

The stables were musty and the sound of horses whinnying were heard. In a separate stable were a bunch of winged and horned horses. Many had wounds on their flanks and heads and they continued to buck and screech. One was wilder and more fierce than the others. Its blood red eyes were wild and its dark grey mane and tail flicked. It had turquoise wings and a turquoise horn and a brown coat, with several grey marks. It screeched and it bucked and it flailed its wings uselessly. One of the farmers barged in carrying a whip. He was pudgy and tall with long dreadlocks. His eyes were sunken in and were dark green.
 "You again?!! You brainless horse bird. If you weren't one of a kind I'd kill you and your friends right now!" he yelled, cracking the the whip against its flank.
Another farmer that was buff walked in with a young girl with hazelnut hair. Her black leather pants were dusty and her shirt scorched and brown. Her jackets was torn, black and tattered. Her black leather gloves covered her hands and her belt holstered a dagger with a jeweled hilt. Chains were wrapped around her wrists, forearms and left leg. She held a scythe in her left hand and her long brown hair blew from the breeze coming from the open stable door. The farmer with the whip looked at her and huffed.
 "Ah, Chief? Dagga' 'ere wanted to buy that rascal." the buff farmer said.
Chief started laughing and Dagger tilted her head slightly. The unipeg whinnied and bucked once again. The farmer cracked the whip again and the unipeg stopped, snorting and its eyes blood red. Dagger stepped forward to the unipeg and it snorted. Dagger put her free hand on its forehead and it snorted, its wings spreading.
 "You wanna test drive?" the buff farmer asked.
Dagger looked at him with her one golden eye and twirled the scythe in her hand. The unipeg whinnied and reared, causing both farmers and Dagger to turn and face it. The farmer went to crack the whip again but suddenly screamed as Dagger moved swiftly moved behind him and twisted his arm. The buff farmer went to run out of the stables but shrieked in fear as the unipeg bucked him in the chest, sending him into a wall knocking him out. The unipeg flailed its wings and Dagger look at it. She revealed her collarbone and tapped two symbols, her face melting away, leaving the bone. Her skull was suddenly engulfed by flames, flickering and waving by the breeze. The unipeg reared in triumph and trotted over to Dagger, its mane matted and messy. Dagger stroked the unipeg and it spread its massive wings. Dagger flicked her wrist at the small gate doors keeping the pegasai and other horses that had magic in their blood and in their bones. Dagger turned to the unipeg and stroked its neck. It snorted and Dagger turned back to the stables, the doors open and all the horses trotting out towards Dagger. The unipeg pushed its head into Daggers hands, the scythe being held in the mouth of a zombified horse.
 "So, you want a name? A new life? To be part of the system?" Dagger asked, receiving a nod from the unipeg.
All the other horses surrounded Dagger and the unipeg, each having some sort of locket around their necks.
 "You have a definite amount of courage and have shown great loyalty during this break out. From this moment on, you will be named Courage for your bravery and loyalty. You receive this locket to show those to fear you." Dagger said, putting a locket around Courage's neck.
All the horses whinnied and snorted in unison and Courage herself reared and whinnied. She looked at Dagger and she nodded, signaling Courage to kneel. Dagger climbed onto her back, the zombie horse giving her scythe back. Dagger patted Courage's neck and she reared, before galloping out of the stables, followed by the rest of the horses who flew after her, up into the sky.

Courage is one of the fastest and most loyal horses in Dagger's army and is the perfect choice for fast getaways or to chase those that Dagger is ordered to punish. All the horses know of Courage and so did many of those that were attacked by this beauty. The farmers were soon taken back to where Dagger had come from and were ordered to be executed. Dagger took the pleasure in slicing the buff farmers head off, making sure it was painful and not precise. Courage was given permission to kill the farmer that had always whipped her. Nobody but Dagger and Courage know what happened to the farmer but many can say that there were many painful and high screams coming from the stables. It went on for several hours, and many know to not mess with Courage. Courage has only one master and she will never betray her, even if it costs the unipeg's life.
